Dear Chief State School Officer,

 

Attached, please find a letter describing the process to use when submitting 2010-2011 amendments to the Title III portion of their Consolidated State Plan.  The U.S. Department of Education (Department) permits States to revise their Title III plans to reflect changes in Title III assessment and accountability systems used to ensure that limited English proficient (LEP) students served by Title III acquire English language skills.  Prior to implementing any revisions, a State must submit its proposed amendments to the Department for review and approval.  Requests for amendments that would affect a State's Title III assessment or accountability system for the 2010-2011 school year are due to the Department no later than January 15, 2011.
